On some PC's, if a user tries to open an excel file that is in a directory with a space in the name (c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Examples\Samples.xls) the error will pop up "C:\Program.xls could not be found...." Click on OK then the next error is "Files\Micorsoft.xls could not be found...." Click on OK again and get "Office\Office\Examples\Samples.xls could not be found..." Click on OK again and the file finally opens.
This error happens on the local drive and the network drive, with directories or files with spaces. It seems to be related to the PC - not the user, so there must be something in the setup that I am missing. That said, I set up all PC's the same and they are all using the same version of Excel (Office 97 - SR 2), which is installed through Novell's ZenWorks. The PC's are NT 4.0 Workstations, SP 5. Also, a Word doc stored in the same directory opens just fine.
Any ideas?
