I have disabled the option of "After Enter Move" but every time I restart Excel it is re-actived and "Down" is selected.....ARGHHHH!

Someone please save my sanity and help me with this! LOL!

hi,

I do not have 2010, but can you acually DISABLE the After prossing Enter, move selection... and NOT move the seletion from the entered cell?

Yes. In all Excel versions.

In 2010, it is File>Options>Advanced>EditingOptions
where it is the first item on the list. Uncheck the box, and the direction grays out.

On my installation, once it's turned off it stays off. (If like me you never get things right the first time, moving the cell after "enter" is a luxury you cannot afford.)

If it still keeps happening, I would suggest deleting/renaming the QAT file. You will need to apply any customizations that were set in the deleted/renamed QAT file

Canadian eh! Check out the new social forum Tek-Tips in Canada.
I thought I had retired...I was mistaken. I used to work for a large corporation; now I work for my wife.

Thank you!

2010 actually does not use QAT files anymore, but that information allowed me to find the information I required

The file is now an *.officeUI and is found in one of the following folders:

In Windows 7 or Vista - C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office

or

In Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Office (in Windows XP).

I deleted the .officeUI file and that seems to allow my settings to be 'locked in'

Thanks again, love this forum!!!
