Hi experts!

I need to create a simple graph. Just to illustrate how percent rates change from the year to year

I need years 2008,2009,2010, 2011 shown on the horizontal Axe while Rates 38, 36,37, 38 shown as 2-D line .

Try as I might I was unable to do it . Instead I got 38, 36,37, 38 shown on vertical Axe (which is OK), while I cannot get years at the horizontal axe (instead I got 1,2,3,4 on horizontal)

Can I at least change 1,2,3,4 to 2008,2009, 2010, 2011? Could you please help me to resolve it?

Thank you,

Katrin

Hi,

Right-click IN THE CHART and select Source Data or Data Source, I can't remember.

In that window, you can select the X-Axis and define the range of the DATA defining the axis: is 2008,2009, 2010, 2011, which presumable, you have defined on the sheet that also contains the VALUES: 38, 36,37, 38.

Skip,

I have found "Select Data" option in right-click menu and I was able to change 1,2,3,4 to 2008, 2009,2010,2011. However, it had no impact on what was shown in the chart. It is unchangable.

I tried right click again and was able to see 2008,2009, 2010, 2011 again but they are not in the chart.

What I am doing wrong?

Thank you for your help!

Katrin

Do you not have 2008, 2009,2010,2011 on your sheet in the same column or row, depending on how your data is structured?

No, I do not although I was able to change data i "Select Data Source" box.

on your sheet
[tt]
A B
38 2008
36 2009
37 2010
38 2011
[/tt]
then map that in Source Data as a REFERENCE.

Skip,

Actually the previous one has worked when I started from scratch!
Thank you so much!

ALL of your data ought to be on the sheet and not buried in the chart object.

In this way, the data can EASILY be changed, as, for instance, you might add another row for 2012, when that time comes.
