We have noticed a huge problem with Excel 2007 crashing when someone opens a file via Sharepoint, makes no changes, and then attempts to close the file.

Excel will hang until manually terminated. Sometimes a lifeboathang error will show up in the event logs.

I recently had to turn off "Automatically scan network for printers" in folder options due to it causing excel problems, but it did not solve this.

Anyone had this problem and how did you fix it if you did?

Thanks!

Any chance you have different versions of Office products installed? Like maybe regular Office 2007 and Visio or Project 2003?

I've experienced a lot of problems with Sharepoint and Office due to different versions but not your problem in particular.

If you do have some 2000 or 2003 versions installed, uninstall the sharepoint support in those versions under the Office tools and then run the Office 2007 diagnostic from the Office-tools, please note that it’s not the same as an Office repair!

If you don't have any different versions, maybe the Office diagnostic can still help.
