excel 2003 no service packs.

have noticed the files are very large and when i scroll down to neraly 1000 lines there are like underscores in the cells. these underscored are minimized pictures with nothing in them. has anyone else heard of this

No... but easy enough to deal with.
Go below the last valid line in the spreadsheet.
Select the row. (Click on the row number).
Press Control + Shift, and the Down Arrow. (This takes you to bottom of the sheet)
Right click on any visible row number (far left side)
Select DELETE
Magic, all the garbage is gone.

Just to clarify, you cannot hit the DELETE KEY.

After selecting the ROWS to delete...
[tt]
Right Click and

Select DELETE from the PopUp.

That is not a known excel bug. In the worst case scenario, it is file corruption... Are you able to copy the data from the good cells in to a clean fresh Excel sheet, and go from there?
