Hi all: We are using XP Pro Sp3 and Office S003 SP3. Two users have problems printing Excel files on a local attached printer. When printing to the Default printer the job seems to get lost in the ether. However if the user selects a different printer it works fine, even if it is the same physical printer with the same drivers and just another name. If the Default printer is set to a networked printer it works fine.
Both users are using the same type of printer, HP LJ 4000t. I have recently rebuit one of the users computers from the ground up (reinstalled every thing) and that user is still having the problem.
I have deleted drivers and reinstalled them, I believe I have tried all the currently availabel HP drivers. Any Ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Acouple of questions, please.

If I am reading this correctly, it's only Excel that mis-behaves, right?

When you say from ground up.... does that mean you re-imaged the machine?

and...I presume you did a virus check.

Thanks.

Only Excel and only on 2 machines (one with a new image and one with an old image). There are 6 others with the old image wiht out any problems.

Yep this rebuild was from an image (brand new from the ground up image, not an updated one).

Virus and malware scans were done on the image when it was finished being built. A daily virus scan is done on all the systems.

Hi. This may seem silly, but try this:

Install another local printer and set that as default:

Select Control Panel, Printers and Faxes, Add Printer. Next; Next, select Create a New Port; under the Drop Down select Local Port, Next. Under Enter Port Name type in \\computername\printername and then finish installing the printer.
