Hi

I am using excel 2000

If I try inserting a button from the control toolbox e.g. a combo box, list box, scroll bar, I get the error message cannot insert object.

Does anyone know what the problem is.

Thanks

Paul

some controls cannot be embedded on an Excel worksheet. You'll have to
use a
userform.

Strange - i can embed whatever I'd like... ;-)
Perhaps you have a corrupt dll.

Have you tried an Office repair?

Hi just tried to reinstall/repair as suggested and I got the error message
c:\program files\microsoft share\vgx\vgx.dll can not be updated as it is protected by windows

Don't suppose you have any idea why

Seems so:

Are you sure you a user form is mandatory? If so, it must be Visual Studio being installed on my machine that makes the difference.

Userform is not mandatory. Should be able to embed controls in a worksheet.

Glenn.

Try shutting down all Office apps including Outlook,
kill all Office-related processes in task manager and re-try the repair.

Good luck

Concur with Glenn - No problem putting any of them on. Now to be fair, I haven't gone through all 200+ of them, but certainly the standard set on the Control Toolbox all go onto a sheet.
