Urgent Help Needed Please!

I have a workbook that I need to make some changes on one of the worksheets. That worksheet is password protected and the only person who knows it is over seas right now! Is there any way to bypass and unprotect the sheet?

Thanks to anyone who can assist.

Laura.

If there is any VBA code,in modules, and you need that code, you are out of luck.

If any/all code is contained in the worksheets, you can try this (unless the book is really locked down).

Move/Copy each worksheet to another (new) workbook.

See if that works.

If you have no need for whatever code, Just copy/paste each sheet to a new workbook.

You need to learn from this situation. There should be unlocked copies kept on a CDR, or kept in an archive folder, with limited access.

You may be able to squeak out of this, but you DO need to learn from the situation.

Good Luck,
Steve

A common enough problem that a quick trip to the MS Newsgroups will rectify. That having been said, people should realise that Excel's security features should only be viewed as a preventative measure for accidental/unintended changes etc to a workbook. If you have data you do not want to be seen, it should not be in an Excel spreadsheet. Whilst Joe Average will not find his way past it, any reasonably proficient Excel nut will bypass it in seconds (Literally). VBA protection is a lot tougher to bypass than normal worksheet protection, but again nothing is foolproof, hence the proliferation of sites selling tools to bypass these things.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately it is the VB code that I need to get at. My boss protected it before going on holidays over seas and left it to me for any revisions. You're right, I'll definitely learn from this situation and ensure all passwords are available for such emergencies as this. :)
