I was trying to access linux using Exceed (XDMCP-Broadcast)

But i am not able to do so... configuration i m using is :

exceed versio : 6.1
Mode : XDMCP-Broadcast (using host list file).
Machine : Windows 2000
but as soon as i put ip address of linux in host file.. even the Display manager of exceed will not pop-up.

I am able to do telnet to Linux machine from my machine...

Do i need to do some special configuration for running X-windows server for linux on my machine???

ne ideas.. :-/

Ajay

I was wondering if you received a reply to your problem.
I am using
- Exceed Version 6.2,
- Linux 8
- my workstation is Windows 2000.

Please fill me in any tips that you might have.
Thank You

I was trying to access unix session using x-win32(XDMCP broadcast)

After connecting to our main server, it ends up with message

"XDMCP:session failed:session55 failed for display machinename:0.0"

The funny thing is that, it is connecting to all other servers(solaris) except one particular server(solaris).

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

jay

I found two great pages to fix this problem.and

I am a begginer in linux and Unix so my mail is not very helpfull but I had a friend set it up for me and it worked. so I know it is possible. now, you are doing broadcast with a host file and fixed ip adresses ? that sound as a contradiction
