Since there are so many people in this forum who seem surprised that they didn't do better on a particular exam, it might help to compare the relative difficulty of each exam that we've taken. This might help some to anticipate the difficulty of a particular exam and to spend extra time studying.

I'll go first, with the exams I've passed in the MCSE: Security on Windows Server 2003 track.

Difficulty ratings below are from 1 to 5 stars, with one being the least difficult and 5 the most difficult.

Yeah, it was that easy. My company paid for the TestOut material thinking that it was going to be more along the lines of Windows XP. I did the class once through over the course of two evenings, then took the exam (no practice test). I think that it took me all of 25 minutes, and I got an 884. I'm sure that I could have done better if I had actually concentrated on it, but since I had just finished the 70-647 about 5 minutes previously I just wanted to get a quick pass and go home.

The exchange 2007 exams are pretty easy except for 238 as it requires a little knowledge of other products and has a ridiculous amount of reading on the questions. Not sure why there is even a 237 exam as it doesn't really test anything new from the other pair

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

Having done the following exams over the last couple of years I can tell you that the workstation exams are really easy, where as I found 290 to be the hardest on of the lot.

70-401 is the SCCM exam which I found remarkably easy but that is partly because I have been playing with it constantly for 3 months before taking the exam.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

My first Microsoft exam (795). Way harder than my CompTIA A+ was of course. It's a tough one even if you've worked on XP for years as most of the questions are server or enterprise related. I also have had limited exposure to Server 2000/2003.

Studied and did practice tests for 4.5 days before testing.
