Exam 76-210

Well this is a new "test" test that I am taking which is basically the same as the 70-210 however longer (4 hours). Just wanted some feedback from people on the study material they used, recommended books etc.... Has anyone out there taking this test yet? Only been available since May 12 I believe so not likely but thought I would ask anyways.

Just took it yesterday... Didn't realize it was a new exam at the time. Passed it but it is tough and has some unusual questions (there was one USB question that really threw me). Questions seem very multilayered and overall network oriented for a desktop system test... I would wait to take it until you pass the Active Directory and Server exams... Also one question had an unclear answer (my perspective). I was pretty sure I was right but the correct answer didn't give all the details needed....

How long did the exam take? Do you have any certs, or what is your experience....this test is suppose to be similar to getting your MCP, so why do you suggest taking the so called more difficult server and active directory exams before taking this entry level one? Was this your first microsoft test? I have heard endless stories of the wording they use, or the answers provided, and that you have to think "what would microsoft recommmend" and not what you would actually do in reality. I hope there is a lot of networking related stuff....because that's what I enjoy and what to focus on in the future.

Pardon me for buttin' in here, but what is the 76-XXX exams, I haven't seen anything at Microsoft's sites about them. Are they .NET? I did a search for 76-210 and came up with nada!!

76-210 is a beta exam offered by M$ for free! yay! It is basically the same as the 70-210 but with more questions. Basically they are going to try out some new questions to see if they want to modify the old one I guess. This one is 4 hours and if you pass it counts the same as your MCP. Same thing applies for the 76-215....this is just a modified/longer 70-215.

I hear registration for this one is closed now. Fortunately I was able to register for this one and the 76-215. I'll take 76-210 Tuesday 27th and 76-215 June 2nd. I've been studying my butt off and have worked with Win2k for about 2 years now. Luckily I have a lot of network experience too. One more after that and it's MSCA for me... That's my short term goal.

Well I just passed the test, only took 1.5 hours. I don't imagine this test was that much different then the 70-210 but I don't know for sure. I wish they gave you the score, but oh well. Let's see tips for other people:

1. make sure you understand offline files and everything involved. I had a few questions with laptops leaving the office on travel, etc...
2. I think it makes it easier if you have some knowledge of servers and active directory.
3. don't take this test lightly as I can guarantee you will learn a thing or two no matter how long you have been using win2k.
4. make sure you understand everything involved with unattended installations, or RIS installations.
