Exabyte 430 library experiencing major SCSI communication issues. Any clues on testing adaptec 29160 card or cables?

Seen quite a few errors on tapedrives connected to a 29160. Three cases were solved by using a SE terminator on the drive (so the bus switched back to SE speeds, still fast enough for the drives) and one customer exchanged the 29160 for an older 2940 UW controller.
First thing to do is doublechecking controller settings, as you cannot expect any tapedrive to swallow 160MB/sec, try a more conservative setting like 40/80MB/sec (U2W) or even slower.
Second, be sure to have a short cable - LVD likes anything between 3 and 12 feet. Above that it can introduce errors.
Termination is critical too - try a multimode LVD/SE first, when it still doesn't work right, try a SE terminator.
