Not real sure where to start...
Are you the only user of the machine?
Are you changing the icon settings and not Apply-ing the new settings?
Are they changing in mid-stroke, or after running a prog, or on reboot or what?
Have you found the file ShellIconCache and deleted it, then rebooted to see if this provides a remedy?
Post back and let us know...

Also, just because you don't have a virus doesn't mean you haven't picked up scum-ware riders on your machine. I have yet to hear of one that has this effect (but then again nobody had really heard of disappearing minimized windows until late last year [smile])
Anyway, I'd also advise you to download SpyBot S&D ( run it, and eliminate any trash you might have on board.

I am the only user
I am not changing any settings
They mostly change after running diff programs
I will delete ShellIconCache
Thanks 10 goto 10

Three things to try when your icons screw up:

1. Delete shelliconcache (as you already know)
2. Go to Display Properties and change the size of your icons to large. Now set them back to small (or the other way round if need be)
3. Download TweakUI and use the repair icons feature

Thanks for all the help I tried all and lets see
what happens. I will post back in a few days to
let you know if it happens again
Thank you 10 goto 10
