Is there a way for me to see an events log that may contain the reasons why I can not send voicemail to email. For example a system event log that shows what the system is doing trying to execute a system function. I thought it was in the System Events and when I set that up I could not find the location of the logs to view.

Thanks

Monitor tells you whats actually happening to the system, but if you want advice on how to fix you'll need to give us more info. What's the system, setup and software levels?

Thank you. I have the unit plugged into LAN 1 and then into my router address 192.168.1.111. It is IPO 500 v2 SW 7.0 Embedded Voice Mail and I have set up the system to send voice mail to email. I followed the instructions and programmed an IP address from Cox including port 25 and authentication the email address for the user and it is still not sending.

I can;t figure out why it won;t go out. any suggestions?
I tried to insert a screen shot for you but this site would not take it.

So you have an IP Route on the IPO like Net 0.0.0.0 Mask 0.0.0.0 Gateway 192.168.1.111 LAN1 ? There are normally problems when trying to connect to an external smtp server.

It is strange why the IPO has trouble. the BCM50 as been able to do this for a long time it is called Message Forwarding and it works with SMTP and is easy to set up. IPO is a lot newer than BCM50 I would think they IPO would be able to do what the BCM50 can do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It only has trouble when it's not configured correctly....same as the BCM/Any system.

Any suggestions?

Yes, configure it correctly, works just fine for me whenever I do it :)

"No problem monkey socks

I think that's fairly obvious so was your comment meant to be condescending or helpful ?

Yes he is.
This is no rocket science.
Make a monitor trace and turn on the email filter too and try again.
Show us the trace (not only the last 3 line please)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thank you for the courteous advise. I will do that.

Well I have tried to find a program called MONITOR or how to set it up but that is not in the HELP menu. Can you help me with this and then I will post the information for you. Thank you!

ok, I did find the IP Office SysMonitor but not sure what to tell it to do.

Then i suggest to get an engineer on site as this is really basic stuff to know if you want to troubleshoot.

I did find it and was able to start the log.

The problem is that no one just simply directed me to the IP OFFICE folder and to select the Monitor program.

Most problems with email forwarding are due to the configuration of the SMTP server (the IPO only supports the most basic of SMTP functions)

I would start by checking that you can use telnet to send smtp emails manually from a PC (it would be a good idea to set the pc's default gateway to be that of the IPO to prove that the IPO can also reach the SMTP server)

for a quick guide to sending emails using SMTP check

Yes I can send and receive just fine through Thunderbird. It did say in the server setting that I was using port 110.

Well I activated telnet but I really could not follow the instructions in the link you posted.

port 25 is port 25 no matter if sent form a BCM or an IPO

your problem must be a different one.

IPO can not encrypt so if the provider requires encryption then that cannot be done with the IPO.

As for Monitor, the Filters can be set to monitor the happenings on the embedded vm, that will show what you need to see.

Short of that wireshark traces are more precise but also more work to go through

check for typos in your authentication if the BCM also did not encrypt emails(don't know if it could)
