Was wondering why I keep getting this warning:

"The DNS server for this DC does not support dynamic DNS. Add the DNS records from the file '%SystemRoot%\System32\Config\netlogon.dns' to the DNS server serving the domain referenced in that file. "

I went ot MS support area, they say its a problem in Win2K server and installing SP2 patch solves the problem, but hey it didnt solve anything for me! Was wondering if anyone knows why I keep getting this warning ever hour on the hour.

I had a similar problem with Win2K server.... I checked the knowledge base and found an answer which I can not give to you right now since I am home... But if you want me to I can send you the URL when I have been in the office tomorrow

HI!

First of all, check your DNS server.
When using 2000 server, it is best to install and configure the internal DNS server on it, and if you are using Active Directory - it is a MUST (at least 1 internal DNS server).
Configure the server itself and all workstations to use the internal DNS server.
Configure the internal DNS server not to be a ROOT server (delete the root zone if required), and configure it to use the ISP DNS servers as forwarders.

Now to the point - right click on your internal DNS zone and in Properties make sure you allow dynamic updates.

Reply with more information if required.

Bye
