Hello

I seem to be getting this error in my Event Viewer System Log. i have just set up my MD on active directory with his new laptop (ADAM-VAIO) and he is having really random problems with logging in etc and has trouble sometimes viewing shared folders on our LAN - this is the only error i can find in event viewer on our main-server where Active Directory resides - i have tried googling the below error but no joy

Please help if u can

thanks

The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer ADAM-VAIO that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{1FD44AB8-F17D-4C37. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.

Hi Freshegg,

The error messge is reasonably common, but is unlikely to be the cause of your problem. What OS are you using? and how are you connecting to the LAN, ie wireless or wired.

Regards

MD

OS = winxp sp2 and he is connecting via a wired solution - thing is he does have a wireless connection on his net connections and that since that was set up the problems seems to arise - not sure if it is related or not, when he is in the office the wireless is disabled. could this have a bearing

Hmm..probably not.

I have seen a very similar problem on a Vaio with both the on board LAN adapter and wireless switching themselves off to save power and needing re-enabling - check the power management setting on the Network adapters properties in Device Mnager to make sure that they aren't set to either wake up on LAN or switch themselves off to save power.

This used to happen to one of my machines if the user had been on batteries off the network for a period of time.

MD

thanks for that

i will look into and get back to u if i find anything

i have taken that setting off but still no joy:

this error appears in the system log nopw also:
The session setup from the computer ADAM-VAIO failed to authenticate. The name of the account referenced in the security database is ADAM-VAIO$. The following error occurred:
Access is denied.

cheers
