At the moment i have a form that uses the on timer event to open every x seconds, it gets the first record in a table (if there is a record) and does some stuff to the record, and then deletes the record. It acts like a monitor and watches for new records in the table.

Is there a better way of doing this? I basically want the database to perform an action when a new record is entered into the table.

Cheers
Gary

I take it that you are opening and closing the form on the timer event. If you wanted to leave the form open, you could use the Me.Refresh method on the timer interval.
If you do not want to see the form you could open it minimised and the timer functions should still work.
