I have Windows 2000 Server SP4 Rollup 1 installed at a client. Everytime time I need to check the the Application log its corrupted. After I clear it. it works for a little while, maybe a day to two then it happens again. I am having some other trouble with this server I need to track down and I can't without this working.

I have it set to overwrite as needed and to a size of 1024kb. The version of the eventlog.dll is 5.00.2195.7096 dated 4/8/05 with a size of 47k.

I cannot find any help from Microsoft. Any help to make this stop happening would be appreciated.

Hi Susan, I would recommend you try the following;

- Go to the services applet and set the Event log service to disabled. Reboot the server. You will of course receive an error that a service has failed to start.. don't worry
- Upon rebooting delete the affected .evt files from c:\winnt\system32\config
- Go to services and restart the event log service and of set it to automatic

Hope this helps
