We have begun seeing a lot of these. Web Component appears to be running but no logon page is available. Restarting the service only works for a certain time then it dies, daily sometimes twice.

Any clues?

The description for Event ID ( 34400 ) in Source ( Crystal_WebConnector ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Cannot get a reference to the Web Component Server: host: *ourservername*, port: 6401.

This part:
Cannot get a reference to the Web Component Server
host: *ourservername*, port: 6401.

seems to indicate a DNS resolution problem with that server name so it cannot find your WCS-
on the web server that uses the connector, try a ping *ourservername* to see if it resolves..Could be intermittant and difficult to see..try substituting the ip address in the Web Connector settings.

I only ommitted our servername in the log for securit reasons.

I chased this as a timing issue but I am noticing that the memory resources for WCS in services is growing from 1 GB to 1.4 GB. It isnt releasing.
 
Apparently the files are not being released from %SystemRoot%\TEMP....

Looking into environment variables.

One thing to try..Be sure the account that is running the WCS has full rights to that TEMP directory.

This issue was related to Mcafee. I had to disable script scanning and viola the processes were released, memory consumption went down.
