What else I can do to fix it ,please

Hello linney,
Finaly installed NET.Framework 1.1 plus GPMC , bue when run GPMC a mesge appear that my user account should be as a "Domain" instead of "Workgroup" ,how my PC is configured.
Don't know why GPEditor can not make a job if any?

I don't know enough about GPMC to really help you there, I don't know for sure whether it can be used on a standalone machine in a non-Domain environment. Perhaps someone else can help you there. It is the sort of question that Microsoft Support should freely answer for you.

If you can post your exact error message that might help too.

This is the copy of error message from my Event Viewer:

"Source: Userenv
Event ID: 1085
User: NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM
Description:The Group Policy client-side extension Internet Explorer Zonemapping failed to execute.

Sorry, forgot to post details for second error:
Source: Windows Search Service
Category:Gatherer
Error Event ID: 3102
User:N/A

Description:
The per-user filter pool for session 0 could not be added.

Details:
The operation being requested was not performed because the user has not logged on to the network. The specified service does not exist. (0x800704dd)

Both errors are in Event Viewer>Application

I decide To uninstall WDS-Windos Desktop Search what i dload from MS site as Upload KB 917013.
But this proggy is without uninstaller and is not listed on my Ad/Remove folder.
Note that I install it after installing IE7, and probbably installation was not properly done.
I even don't know what version of WDS I have only that it was installed from KB 917013 exe.
Please help me to uninstall it and probablly this ID 3102 will be solved.
Thanks.

In meantime found that KB 917013 is corresponding to WDS 3.0
and none of these file addresses exist on my computer.

Version Location

2.6.0.2083 %systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB907371-V2$\spuninst

2.6.0.2057 %systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB907371$\spuninst

2.6.5.Beta %systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB911993\spuninst
.Not sure if installing WDS again over old version can help, but afraid to create more problems.
Any other metod , please.

Does $NtUninstallKB917013 exist in the Windows folder? You may have to show both Hidden and System files via Folder Options/ View to see it.

Read this as a GUIDE ONLY of the uninstall process using spuninst.exe.

875350 - How to remove Windows XP Service Pack 2 from your computer

Again this link is only an example of usage, don't uninstall SP2!

$NtUninstallKB917013 not exist in the Windows folder.

After a lot of investigations foun this:
"Open your registry editor and navigate to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ microsoft\ updates\ windows xp\ sp3\ kb917013 and delete this key and all of the sub keys

Now reinstall WDS 3.0, once the reinstallation is complete you should find that there is now an entry in the "add/ remove programs" list and that the uninstaller ($NTUninstallkb917013$\ spuninst\ spuninst.exe) is now also present on your computer"
Running regedit found on the left pane KB 917013 and below a bunch of I suppose -subkeys.
Shall I delete only entries shown in left pane or also values and strings in the right pane.
Of corse I will make Registry BackUp before

Why don't you just run the "reinstall WDS 3.0" again and see if you can then use Add or Remove to then complete the uninstall?

Think of Keys as folders, Values as Sub Folders, when you delete a Key everything inside that KEY goes too, including Values and Data.

Launch RegEdit and use the Help program as it is your best source of information about RegEdit.
These following links take the subject a bit further too.

310516 - How To Add, Modify, or Delete Registry Subkeys and Values by Using a Registration Entries (.reg) File

310426 - How To Use the Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Registry Editor Features

I remember the first time I looked at the Registry and how daunting it all seemed, but with time and plenty of safety nets (see below) it soon becomes as familiar as using Explorer.

If you change a key or value, use the Export function to save a copy of any key prior to your change. You just right-click on the highlighted key to find Export.

To backup the whole Registry for easy re-installation (even from other operating systems or DOS) I recommend this free program.

Registry Backup and Restore for Windows NT/2000/XP

Finally sorted WDS 3.0 using metod a/m -removing Registry keys and sub keys, reinstaling KB 917013 and at the end Remove it from Ad?remove folder .
Removing WDS, Error ID 3102 is sorted to.
I was right suspecting WDS for this error.
Now remains only to fix Userenv 1085 in connection with GP.Seems that this is a "heavy duty" task, but I hope that with help of expert people, even this problem can be sorted.
limmey thanks so much for your patients and efforts since now.

What have you got in this Group Policy location?

Location: User Configuration\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Security Features\Network Protocol Lockdown\Restricted Protocols Per Security Zone

Try them set as "Not Configured" if they aren't already.

Have a look at all the other Settings for Internet Explorer which ones, if any, are configured or set do do something?

It seems that this error is being caused by some Policy that is unable to be implemented for some unknown reason and maybe not configuring such policy will remove the error.

That said, the only solution I have seen on Google to fix your error is a clean install of XP. Like you said "heavy duty!!!!!".

Hi linney,
Followed your instructions and:
"Location: User Configuration\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Security Features\Network Protocol Lockdown\Restricted Protocols Per Security Zone" - "Not Configured",
then all others in connection with Internet Explorer:
-All "Not Configured"
In MS tutorials is mentioned, they have Hotfix to fix 1085 but it can be obtained only from MS, but in one previous case when I ask Hotfix to solve NetBios error in Event >Systems ,( ask it from local MS representative ), received answer after while, they haven't it.
Re "Clean install" , thanks ,but better to preserve what I have now.

In my case I have this Description:
-"Source: Userenv, ID 1085
The Group Policy client-side extension Internet Explorer Zonemapping failed to execute.
In there is next description :
-"Source: Userenv, ID 1085
The Group Policy client-side extension IP Security failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension."
This event is logged even though no serious error occurred.
-Any difference between them , or this is the same.
NB. I have Windows XP SP2, x86 based version.

You probably have nothing to lose from asking Microsoft about that hotfix, they will either give you the link to the hotfix or tell you it doesn't apply to your error.

Yes, done accordingly asking MS abut my inconvinient.

If they solve it, do share any solution with the forum because there is not too much information around about your exact error.

I’ll do it surely, but not expecting that much.

In attempt to re-register again files listed in MS tutorial, all files re-registered successfuly except Software Installation Appmgmts.dll.Received this mesage:
"Appmgmts.dll was loaded but the DllRegister Server entry point was not found.
This file can not be registered"
Any advice , please.
