Event id 1002 Application Hang

recently installed a PC with XP and Office 2000..... User opens GroupWise 5.5 that has an attachment created in Office 2000 (WORD) and the computer hangs. The event log puts out the following information:

Source Application Hang
Type Error
Event ID 1002
Category 101

Hanging application WINWORD.EXE version 9.0.0.4527 hang module hungapp version 0.0.0.0 hang address 0x00000000

Have never come accross this but stinks of a GP fault, possible memory address issue?
