Hi I have just setup a new Windows 2000 Server and a handful of workstations all running Windows 2000 Pro.
All are patched with the latest service packs and patches.

I keep on recieving event id 1000 on the workstations
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. Return value (1317)

I have checked DNS and all seems ok.

The problem only seems to exist when the usere is a member of domain users or domain guests. If I change the user to domain admin the problem is fixed but for obvious reasons I dont want to use this a my solution.

Hope someone can help

Thanks

set everyone NTFS FullControl on C: root, see what happens.

A few things to try...

1. Right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
2. Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
3. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
4. Type the correct DNS address in the Preferred DNS server box.

Are there any other errors in the event log? ID 1202 maybe?
