I enabled the Ethernet port on our OP81C and I get many errors, packet losts etc... I tested both UTP cables and they are good. I replaced both transceivers and I still get the same errors and packet losts. When I try to ping my C-LAN gateway, it only works half the time. I tried to switch CPU but then I can't ping my C-LAN gateway at all...

Any idea anyone? I'm running rlse 25.47.

Thanks!

ELAN and CLAN are separate networks
equipment LAN and customer LAN

errors happen in ethernet when there are a lot of collisions due to broadcasts - this can happen if elan and clan are on the same hub

You need to install an AUI to each of the backplane in an 81c

Do you need this for MAT/OTM or for Symposium?

ALL BROADCAST messages (packets) MUST be blocked from the ELAN. If not blocked, the switch WILL INI. The ethernet ports on the switch are designed for ELAN only. Only traffic designed for ITG Line, CallPilot VM, OTM, and/or Symposim Call Center Server (AML type/ELNK) should ride the ELAN. It may not immediately, but will cause alot of problems. CLAN and ELAN must be on separate IP subnets. ie ELAN 137.135.128.253 and a CLAN of 10.20.xxx.xxx . A transciever must be installed on each CPU in order for both CPUs to work. Also you must have a route programed (default gateway)in LD 117. If you are trying to use the CLAN to talk to the switch, then you have to BLOCK the data switch port that the transcievers are plugged into from receiving BROADCAST messaging. This is done in the data world. Let us know.

I need this for OTM.

I have one AUI installed on each I/O panel. Each AUI go to a Cisco 2940 Switch. This is how I isolate the E-LAN from the C-LAN. It is setup like such:

My Primary Active ELNK is 27.1.2.2
My secondary Inactive ELNK is 27.1.2.3
The Route to the default Gateway is 0.0.0.0 27.1.2.1
I have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

All of my OTM clients are in the 27.1.2.xx IP range

When I ping the PBX (27.1.2.2) from an OTM client, I get between 25 and 50% packet losses all the time. When I ping the Cisco 2940, I get no loss at all.

I figured it was either the cables from the AUI to the Cisco 2940, or the AUI themselves but I replaced both AUI and I tested both cables.

I'm actually very new at this so any advice will be more than welcome.

Thanks!

have u created v lans on the cisco switch. u need to have ur elan either in separate switch or in separate vlan.

Also check for port settings on switch. U need to ahve switch as 10mbps and halfduples.

Check for the broadcasts on the switch. broadcasts shd not be forwarded to elan port.

just my 2 cents

I finally found the probs... It worked fine on core 0 but not on core 1. I swapped the cables between the backplane and the I/O panel, same thing. The problem is on the backplane of core 1. I will have to have it replaced...

Thanks for all the info!

As Unkalary wrote, The switch will INI: I was a victim. Anyway, I find your Clan and Elan are in the same subnet (27.1.2.0). You are using a switch so you don't have collisions... but you will get flooding.
You can still use the same switch, but you need to program vlans and move the IP addressing of one of the LANs. Your OTM should have 2 NICs to work as a Gateway.

Just as a reminder, you should also check the duplex on the ethernet interfaces. As this causes similar issues.
