ethernet link 1 down

I have a constant alarm "ethernet link 1 down" on the web interface but I have checked the web settings and all seems OK. Can someone tell me which link is this ?

Do a 'display communication-interface links'. That will show you what you have assigned to the link. You can also do a 'status link 1' which should give you additional information, such as physical port.

this is not on the communication manager. This problem is on the server. That would be comms proc link, but we have a ethernet link 1 down

..may seem a dumb question, but has your Ethernet 1 port ever been enabled? Is is supposed to read anything else?
