I am running RH 7.2. After initial install I had no trouble with internet connection and so forth. Now I am getting and eth0 failed to load on boot. Using ifcongfig I can get the card up but am still unable to see the internet. I know the card is working fine because I can ping my router. How do I see the boot log errors? How do I make sure the gateway is correct? What else cold be wrong?

I know it is something that I changed but not sure what. Oh I can see local host and apache webserver fine too. my card in linksys ne100. i have no driver problems that I am aware of.

I also would like to know how localhost.localdomain effects all these setting. When I shut down I am also getting several errors can I look at these in more detail? Is there a log file?

I have only been on Linux about 2 mos, so plz dont assume I know common stuff.

to see the boot log go in /var/log/boot.log

You may see more of what you wanmt by looking at dmesg.

As root type the following line to read the file:

dmesg | less

Press space to see the next screen, press b to go back a screen.

All the ethernet configuration are in files

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
Which has two important thing ipaddress, netmast

/etc/sysconfig/network
Which has gateway settings.

From your explanation looks like you do not have card problem because you can see apache webserver. must be gateway or netmask problem.
