I've just install a new hard disk in my sparc. after install solaris 7 from fresh, I got an error message saying the /etc/system file can't be found. Is there anything relating to the new hard drive? Could someone help me ?

Was this an additional hard drive to your system or is this the only one? Also, how did you configure your disk slice allowance, manually or automatically?

Mike

Hi Mike,
I took the old hard drive out and replace by this "compaq" hard drive and install the OS. During the installation, I configured the slice allowance manually (root=500MB, /usr=1200MB ). it ran fine until asking to reboot to complete the installation process. After the reboot, the above error message pop up and the system reboot again (it keeps rebooting until I hit control+A).
I don't know if I need to set anything at the open boot prom ?

Dis you configure the slices as follows:

slice
0 / 500Mb - This is the root slice
1 swap xxxmb - Your swap file and should be 2xRAM
3 /usr 1200Mb
7 7Mb - Always hand for the disk mirroring later

the slice selected is important
