how do i export a file with root permission, i am trying to backup a file on system 2, but i do not have permission. Even logged on as root. how do i export it with root permission. The backup is being done on system2 on a directory that is shared.

you will need to export the parent directory of the file that you want to have root access to. after editing the exports file issue 'exportfs -a'.

/etc/exports entry: /dirname_to_share -root=hostname_of_machine_to_have_root_access
