Been having issues with trying to RDP to a Windows WM being hosted on an ESXi server. I can connect out from the machine with no problem. I am able to ping anything and also able to RDP to other servers.

My issue with the return path. I am able to resolve the name to IP address, just unable to ping or to RDP to the windows host.

on ESX I could modify the firewall with esxcfg-firewall, but I don't see the command nor are they any options in the ESXi Security Profile.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

the esx firewall is only for the service console. there must be something on your vm that is set wrong.

Do you have remote desktop enabled on that vm. Is there a firewall running on it.

Make sure the default gateway and subnet mask is set correctly on the VM for your network also...

This was entirely my own fault.
