Hi guys, having some trouble with Veritas. I have 11D Rev7170 with SP2 installed. It's running on a LotusNotes (Domino) server which has been OK for quite some time.

However, now for some reason it keeps failing and don't know why. If I do a small backup of a few files it works OK. If I run a backup of all the databases (approx. 100 in total) it starts to run then fails saying something like "tried to write passed end of media".

I opened the job while it was running and noticed that it reached 100% completed very quickly although it had only backed up 1 or 2 of all the databases. The backup was still running even though the percent completed said 100% and the time remaining was 667432:04:32!

Any ideas/suggestions?

Sound like a hardware problem maybe.

I would disable and delete the tape device out of Backup Exec and stop the services.

Install Latest Tape drivers from symantec web site and reboot.

The next tape you use quick erase it and see what happens
