Can someone tell me what is ESSENTIAL to backup in case of a complete server failure, ie worse case scenario it sets on fire.

I am currently working on brick level backups and they are proving challenging to say the least. I want to ensure that in the case of the server crashing I can atleast restore everything, even if I can't restore brick level at the moment.

I am backing up the following:

C:D:Registry
dbaexch\Directory
dbaexch\Information Store
System State
Program Files\Computer Associates\Arcserve\DR\Exchange
Program Files\Computer Associates\Arcserve\Database

I can not seem to find anything that catagorically states, you should back up x,y and z to be able to perform a restore. Any guidance greatly appreciated

Cheers
Guy

It looks like you've identified the major components, however, you should read the Microsoft Exchange DR whitepapers thoroughly. There are even more caveats when your Exchange server is a PDC, etc.

Good Luck. Give us a shout if you've any questions.
