Essential Edition email notifications with gmail 1

I've installed an IP Office 500 Version 6.1 with Essential Edition. I need to configure voicemail email alerts. The customer is using gmail. Has anyone got this working before? Any help would be much appreciated.
 
Yea.. But not on Essential Edition.

Is the customer using an actual user@gmail.com or just using gmail to get access to the Google Business Apps for their user@abccompany.com?

You can with GMX, but then let the IPO send the mail not VMPro.

Register:
Enter the following in the Manager > System > SMTP;

IP: 213.165.64.45
port: 587
email from address: you@gmx.com or .us
server requires auth: ticked
user name; you@gmx.com or .us
password; your password
use challenge response auth: unticked

Then on the User > Voicemail > Voicemail email
enter the "to" mail address. this can be a Gmail address.

The customer is using user@gmail.com email accounts.

Something strange has happened. I got it working on our own system. But i can't get it working on our customers system. Do i need to conigure any other settings other than the SMTP tab?
 
Is there an IP route in the IPO?

there needs to be 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0/x.x.x.x = your Gateway or Router)

So is the trick to set the IP route?

Also do you need a license for voicemail to email with the essential version?
 
So my IP route needs to be 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0/192.168.1.1

where my router is 192.168.1.1?
 
this is the error i get when using a gmx mail accout and setting the IP route:

ERR: SMTP error: " 5.7.0 Sender address does not belong to logged in user {mp-eu002}

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

 
You can't use gmail directly... IPO not support SSL.

If you want use gmail or apps you must use a relay server like smtp server of Windows server or XP whith SMTP services or other.

Some email server in internet not use SSL or other like GMX or ARSYS. Whith this you can email directly from IPO.

I am using GMX.

A little google search leads me to believe i am simply using the wrong password. Could that be the error?
 
Are the "email from address" and the "username" the same? looks like a typo to me.

i'll double check, i suppose by the look of the error message it seems like a typo.

I haven't put anything in the DNS entries, is that necessary?

this is a very small IP0, 4 tels, 7 mailboxes, 4 CO lines (NO SIP, NO IP Phones)
 
You could try, i normally enter the dns settings so i guess that could be it.

thanks for your help!!

This customer doesn't have an onsite dns server, I suppose I will use the DNS from the ISP

I will double check to make sure no typos in the SMTP settings. I hope that's the problem.
