essential edition 9.1 to 8.1 1

Very quick question here.
We order a new IP 500 chassis
and a essential edition licence 9.1

if we downgrade to 8.1, the essential edition license wil it be valid?

Essential edition isn't release specific, any release mentioned is just marketing nonsense, same as endpoints etc
