Hi Folks.
Im getting the following.

MMTASK caused a general protection fault

in module WDMAUD.DRV at 0002:00001b82.

module KERNEL32.DLL at 019f:bff6baf3.

A reinstall of DirectX has not addressed the issue.
System is hanging seriously. About to try replacing
directdlb as per Q312333

Anything else to try ?

Can you please tell me what you had running or what program you were in when you got these messages?

I would try a repair on IE or select install and reinstall all of the components.

I am having the same problem. Tech has me going in circles. I have a 5 page email from them on how to get it resolved. I'm afraid to try. But, everything is causing a problem in it for me too. What do you think?

Howdy:

Reload your sound and USB drivers.. or, do a re-install of Windows.

Go to Start, settings, control panel, add/remove software
double click on Internet Explorer and select repair.
See if that might fix your problem

Come on people.. Do a little research.. IE has absolutely NOTHING to do with the error message !!!!! The corrupted driver is located on both the Windows cd (cab files) as well as gets installed with the soundcard drivers !!!

[XYZ-Audio-Device.AddReg]
HKR,,AssociatedFilters,,"wdmaud,swmidi,redbook"
HKR,,Driver,,xyzaud.sys
HKR,Drivers,SubClasses,,"wave,midi,mixer,aux"

HKR,Drivers\wave\wdmaud.drv, Driver,,wdmaud.drv
HKR,Drivers\midi\wdmaud.drv, Driver,,wdmaud.drv
HKR,Drivers\mixer\wdmaud.drv,Driver,,wdmaud.drv
HKR,Drivers\aux\wdmaud.drv,Driver,,wdmaud.drv
