McAfee AV has been running several months with no issues.

The past few weeks I have noticed the following below in the System Event Log at a customer's site. There is no account by that name and no passwords have been changed recently with Admin privileges.... I have looked on McAfee's support site with no luck.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi
Did you find any more about this error yet, I have the same on 2000 server SP4 on at least 2 of my 8 servers in a college.

Toad

I have something along the same error lines.

Source: Dcom
Category: None
Type: Error
Event ID: 10004

Description:
DCOM got error "Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer." and was unable to logon.
\McAfeeMVSUser in order to run the server

Is on one server and on the other server I get
(Same source, cat, and event id)
Description:
DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password: and was unable to logon. \McAfeeMVSUser in order to run the server.

I've contacted McAfee support and will post my results once I have something.

Did anyone get a solution for this? I'm too getting it on Win 2k SP4 servers.

Thanks

I had the issue with ASAP or what they now call "McAfee Total Protection". They couldn't come up with a good answer. McAfee's "Solution" was to allow me to use Virus Scan 8 on my servers rather then ASAP. So, if you ask me, the answer is, regardless of what they say, ASAP does NOT work well on servers.

Same Error:
DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " and was unable to logon .\McAfeeMVSUser in order to run the server:
{2242B406-90A2-4EF9-BC19-492D477F7914}

MS Server 2003
