I have backed up a Windows 2000 Workstation's C and D drive using ArcServe 2000. In D drive I have excluded 1 directory.
After the backup is finished I can see in the log file:

3 Directories/Files skipped
Skipping Registry Hive....Use System State
Backup Operation Incomplete

Anyone know why I get these 3 errors? I am trying to do a DR so I need to make sure the backups are OK.

Many Thanks,
Alan.

Some people have suggested that I have install open files agent on the client machine. I have done this so it does not seem to be causing the problem.

If you have the full "My Computer" selected, and the option in AS Server Admin to "Skip registry details when full machine selected", then it will skip the Registry Hive.

Check the log for yellow icons--it sounds like you have a sharing violation on some files that are being backed up(Perflib probably).

Hi,

Whe you are preparing for a DR u need to have a FULL dynamic backup of the machine...
If you want to exclude anything.. set up an exclusion filter on the job option if it is the local machine or right click on the machine name under client agents, select the filter option and set the exclusion filter for the directory you do not want to backup...

When backing up win2k, the registry is backed up as a part of the system state.. so you ned not worry about that..
as for the other two files...

it might me the QMGR*.dat file in the system state....

setup an exclusion filter for these files too... and u should be good.

Thanks Speshalyst.
By the way, what is QMGR*.dat file. If I exclude these files will it affect my Restore procedure using the DR option.

Many Thanks.

QMGR is a kinda download manager i guess...
It will not affect DR in any way...

Cheers
