All I have on these codes is that it is a problem with the backup command. I cannot find any more detail than that.
Have you recently applied any new patches? i.e. effecting the mksysb, backup and restore commands? It may be worth pulling off the above commands from an old backup tape and put them into /tmp and running a cksum to compare them to the current ones installed on the system.
Specifically to the 0511-449 error message, when we have encountered this problem it has been due to "garbage" file names, e.g. when you do a listing of a directory, you might see ?'s; the output may be not in columns, but scewed; or the such. (I call them "garbage" because they usually are created in our experience here by noise on phone lines during modem transmissions).
If you list the contents of the mksysb you should be able to identify the directory where the file(s) resides and then can either rename or remove that file.
