Error when trying to defrag 1

When I try to Run the defrag (and also analyze) It gets to 20% and then I get this error: The scan has been cancelled because and error occured in file C:\WINDOWS\PREFETCH\CIDAEMON.EXE-27AE97A4.PF

The defrag has worked in the past, so I'm not sure why it's doing this now. Any suggestions?

Do a full scandisk. Sounds like a corrupt file or bad spot on the drive maybe. If nothing else delete that .pf file.

Also,

Make sure you have enough space on your harddrive to defrag. I think you need atleast 15% free minimum. If you have less you can still defrag but you might run into some problems and get errors.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ran a chkdsk and it found the corrupt file which fixed my problem.
