Error when mapping network drive - No logon servers available

I have two Win2k laptops and a Win98 desktop connected via a Linksys router. Every week or so, from my Win2k laptops, I map a network drive on the Win98 desktop and copy all of my important files. Map - click/drag - copy. This has worked perfectly for over 2 years. Until last week. When I attempt to map the network drive I get an error message that says "There are currently no logon servers available to service to logon request." I might have installed a security patch from Microsoft, but nothing else has changed (in the router, laptops or desktop). Both laptops started this at the same time. I can ping the IP address from the laptops, but I can't map to the drive.

To attempt to resolve this error, I've reset the router, flashed it with the newest firmware, check Microsoft's website for patches, changed ports on the router and renamed the desktop and it's workgroup. Nothing helps.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Steve

And what do you see in Network Neighborhood?
And what are the results from an Ipconfig /all ?

I think you need a new router.

My Network Places does not show the desktop. I can ping the desktop with the IP address or it's name (in this case "ping home"). That works fine. I deleted the NIC driver and reinstalled it from the original CD. I still have the problem. I have also looked for a more recent driver, but no luck.

I guess I'll go buy another NIC and see if that helps.

OK well can u remember which security patch u installed uninstall it?
