Hi there -

I copied my VB app and Access 97 db onto my new PC.
The new PC has Access 2000. I have saved the db as 2000.

Now, when I try to run the VB 6 app... get error

"Unrecognized database format" ... then the path to the db

This is a simple thing, I'm sure. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks, John

Same thing happened to me. Create a new Acess 2000 mdb. Import yoyur tables queries etc into it. Then rename it to the name of your original mdb... save the old one as something else just in case. This worked for me. Good luck

Thanks Vec and MickJ.

I installed MDAC 2.6 and VB Service Pack5. Still got the error "Unrecognized database format"

I need Service Pack 5 anyway so I can work with SQL Server 2000 data so it was time well spent.

Next I changed the Connection String's PROVIDER from Jet.OLEDB.3.51 to 4.0

Then I discovered that the Data control has a Connection setting.... mine was Access... I changed it to Access 2000.

Now everything works fine.

MickJ, I too am (fairly) new to VB... an older guy coming from other languages like RPG on an IBM AS400. The transition has been a bumpy ride at times.

Thanks again. John
