I created a Visual Integration Export Job to pull data from the SY.DAILY file and selected TRAN_DATE, POST_AMOUNT, and ACCOUNT_NO fields in the data tab. When I try to run this job I get an error that states "File GL4ATP.SOA not found" (ATP is the name of my company). The job fails but shows it's running till I end it, though it never creates an export file.

What is that SOA file and what do I need to do to get this to work so I can export my daily transactions. I want to do this to migrate my data to another system.

Honestly you need help from a qualified MAS consultant if you are making such a basic misatke.

1. In VI if you click the Info button on the main panel of the job there is an "unlock" button that will stop the job.
2. Sy.Daily has nothing to do with your daily transactions.
3. What module are you trying to extract data from? GL? AR?
4. What level are you on?
5. Do you have an install of MS Access and know how to use it?

I'm trying to pull information from GL so I can migrate what we have in MAS 90 to another accounting package. The problem is I don't see GL listed in the listing for 'File Name'. I can get MS Access installed on my PC or can also setup a database in MS SQL 2005. At this point I was just trying to extract the information to .CSV files but am open to other ideas. I understand I can bring in a consultant but was hoping I would be able to do some basic testing so I don't end up spending a bundle. I've been able to pull alot of other information but am stuck here.

If you are on an older version of MAS and still have the CDs look for the TRSG for a list of tables and their contents.

Create an Access database. In Tables right click and then Import. Selected ODBC and then connect to the SOTAMAS90 DSN. Then in GL look for the GL5 which is your history. If you are on v4.XX it would be something different which is why I asked what version you are on.

I appreciate the input but I still don't understand why there isn't a GL file for me to extract detail transaction information using Visual Integrator.

Is there something else I need to install or something I need to do to make this available? The tool seems to give me exactly what I need to create the CSV files for AP & AR but not GL. If I could get that to work the rest would be simple. Any ideas?

Please don't take this the wrong way but your issue is that you are not familar enough with the product. I can create that VI job easily enough. You may well have to either 1) install Access and pull the data to your heart's content. 2) pay a qualified MAS consultant to come on site or remote in and help with the VI job.

Thanks to all who tried to help, I found an easier way to do it. What I did was to pull the information using Excel via the 'Get External Data' function. This allowed me to pull everything in to the CSV file I needed. I wish MAS90 had documented this because BigLouie was right, I'm not very familiar with the product but can usually find my way around systems that have adequate documentation. Thanks again.

Excel is fine but it has a limit on the number of rows it can handle and many times the history in MAS is more than that limit which is why I suggest Access.
