Hello,

we are in the process of adding a IPDA shelf to our hi path 4000 switch. The tech said that they need to move cards around to optimize the system. When we backup the database we get the following errors below. Even AMOs won't recognize commands...

I presume it is in English now?
DIS-DATE;
DIS-CODEW;

Looks like the unix part when down...how do I bring it back up? Do I just unplug the HiPath (a1) and plug it back in?

What do you get when you DIS-DATE; and DIS-CODEW;
How do you know the Unix part went down
You should not unplug anything -
you have the hard drive working now
one step at a time

I can't connect to the switch via IP (last message I saw on the screen UNIX shutting down).

The unix is probably reloading.
What is the status of the processor cards
do you have a -. (dash dot) on the bottom one?
What is showing on the other Processors?

I am not by the switch...I can't connect to anything.

Can you ping the Unix?
Can you go to it and connect a cable to the ADS Processor?
What is the current status?
Are the DATE and TIME Correct?
Is it in CODEWORD?

I am not close to the switch...I was just going to have someone unplug the power and plug it back in.

Ok back up...date and time correct.

DS-CODEW gives:

the licensing messages, etc.

yeah...but I still can't run a backup...maybe I need to do a restore from the last backup?

If it was me...
I would not run such scripts to backup the system.
on the ComWin/Expert Access
EXE-UPDAT:BP,ALL;
EXE-UPDAT:A1,ALL;
then do a full REGEN and take that file out it will be a .samtxt file
Also you can backup the individual items of the Unix Assistant via FTP out to a Server/Laptop
That is more than enough for you to be happy with adding on a Remote Shelf.
You could also backup to the compact flash and do a CDBR backup

If you are shutting down the system you need to deactivate the hard drive first.
