I used "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows 2000 to uninstall Sidekick99. Now when I try to reinstall it from the original CD, I get an error message "Severe! This installation has detected that a previous installation or uninstallation requires you to restart your computer.", after which it shuts down the Sidekick setup. I have restarted my computer several times but continue to get the error message. How can I get it to reinstall? I have years of data in my data files that I need access to.

Dear wilcc,

I am experiencing the same problem while trying to install Sidekick 99 on a new Dell 8300 which has Windows XP Professional installed. Installation is stopped by the window that shows "The installation has detected that a previoius installation or un-installation requires you to restart your computer". I tried the suggestion to re-name the wininit file to wininit.old but ended up with the same result as before. Have you had found a way to install Sidekick 99. I've used it for about 8 years and would hate to have to give it up.

Regards,

windancertoo
