Hi
All,

Ok, say I download a .fla document from a website, and I try to open the file, flash will load and all but at the end, it will say "failed to open document" and the document was made with MX 2k4 (I have mx 2k4 by the way) but when I open up flash and open it through flash, it will load perfectly... why is this?

Are you on PC? Could this .fla you're talking about be a Mac created .fla? Have you downloaded the patch that came out a few weeks after the release of MX2004?

Yes I'm on PC as of now. The .fla file could possibly be made with Mac, but thanks mate! I will be sure to download patch. I have version 7.0.1 right now, shall I update?

I'm still on MX only, so don't know if that's the latest version of MX2004 and if it includes the patch or not. I've read of this problem when MX2004 came out, and that the solution was to download the patch, but I can't really confirm if the patch must be downloaded or not on the latest version.

As for Mac .flas, regardless of that patch, they can't be opened on a PC, unless they're initially zipped up. It works the other way around, but not from Mac to PC if it ain't zipped up.

Hi Old,

I've never had any trouble opening my .fla files (created on Mac) in Flash on my PC. Is there an article somewhere on the subject?

The only consistant problem I have had between the two platforms is fonts.

Just curious...

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!
