The following error message was emailed to me by a client:
1. System error. Write down the message, error and source...
2. Internal Error. GLOPT: openEtc: cpGetCompanyinformation failed (1881 GLOPT.C). Write down the message, leave Sage ..
3. Error occurede when opening view GL0005.
4. View 'GL0005' is not a valid View ID
5 Error occured when activating Sage Accpac Data Source.

There is also an occurance of:
"You cannot open this company because another task has locked the database. Wait for the task to complete then select the company again."

What could be causing this problem(s) and how do we resolve them?

Accpac isn't installed correctly. Since it's your client, you need to check their setup starting from step 1.

Sorry! Perhaps I should have been more explicit about this. The program had been running perfectly for more than two months now until last Friday when apparently IT had an old Server Rack replaced with the new one. I am told that it was only the replacement of the Rack and nothing else.

They are running on MS SQL Server 2008 and Accpac is 5.5a with all the latest SPs. The workstations are running Windows XP PRO + SP3.

Was the server name changed? If yes, then your Accpac shortcuts and registrations need to be fixed. If no, then they screwed up the network with a bad switch.

I'll probably go on site tommorrow because the latest update I get about the problem is that there are about two workstations that are working fine.

I was also told that there was nothing done to the Servers except move them to the new rack.

It's probably a case of deleted software on the local machines, if the software is installed locally. I also had a case where a new IT person ran Accpac service packs on the server while users were in Accpac, he ignored the error messages about files in use and then all the users got strange errors in Accpac.

Thank you all Guys. I went to Site and, after a lot of sweating, discovered that the Server had two NICs. They were both enabled though the IT Guy claimed he was not aware about the configuration of the Server as he was not around when it was bought. Apparently the people delivering the Rack thought it was in use and connected a fly lead to it.
