Hi,

I'm new to ASP.Net and i've been following course work and projects supplied on a CD-ROM. I've copied
a project to my C:Drive and and changed the folder and file properties to read/write. However when I
try opening the .sln or .vbproj file it gives an error message "Unable to get the project file from the web server

I do have IIS running locally:

In the IIS I created a virtual directory with this project name, and setup the virtual dir to the folder
were the actual project are located.
This still does not help - i get the same error:

I've tried changing the <Web URLPath> in the .webinfo file to something like:
"I still get the same error.

Any pointers as to where i've gone wrong.(Getting desperate...) Thanks for any help in advance.

Thanks TipGiver, i've tried your suggestion and still no joy - still getting same error message - "Unable to get the project file from the web server". I should add that i try to open the myproject.vbproj type file or solution if present.

If i create a asp.net project from scratch and run it - all is well - it works as expected. However if it try to open existing projects copied from the CD-ROM - they fail to load.
(It's too much unnecessary work to create a project then copy across and include all the files that are required.. somethings wrong..)
Have i missed setting asp.net config parameters or running a batch file etc...
(I should add that i'm running XP Pro with IIS:v5.1 - local).
Thanks for any help in advance.
