I have recently reloaded my Windows ME on my HP pavilion laptop.when I connect to the dsl and surfing on it ,the system is showing a blue screen as follows:
Error:OE:016F:BFF8/e64B occured
press enter to return to windows
Press ctrl+alt+del to restart windows, you will lose any unsaved information
press any key to continue.
it is not returning to windows,i have to restart my system again.
Are there any solutions for this???
Thanks,

It dependeds on how you 're-loaded' WinMe. If you installed WinMe 'over' the previous installation, that's probably your problem.

A Clean install, after backing up your sensitive data (Internet Explorer Favorites; Netscape Bookmarks, Address Book and Netscape Mail Folders; Outlook Express Address Books and Folders (compress any Netscape Mail or Outlook Express folders first) letters, pictures, databases, spreadsheets, music, etc.) to removable media for restoring later, then formatting your HDD, and then installing Windows, and then installing your other software and hardware (paticularly yolur Modem driver). You'l need a previous version of Windows install CD, or a full version for the install. If you need instructions, I can tell you where to find the CD key on your HDD to use during when Setup asks you for the numbers. Emachines, Celeron 600, 256 Mb RAM, 10 Gb HDD, ADSL.

Look for faultlog.txt on your system for a detailed explanation of what happened.

This sounds like a useful trick. Can you let us know how it is done please, Styx.

You can go into one of those computer's registry and get the Product ID number .... go to RUN, type REGEDIT, and click through the plus marks for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWSand now click the words CURRENT VERSION Scroll down the right hand side until you see ProductCODE and write down that number....that's the one you want.

You can also, by the way, (in addition to Styx' suggestion), download and install Belarc advisor from belarc.com and it'll tell you all sorts of interesting/informative things about your computer's hardware and software...including the CD key.
