I am new to Extreme. We have 13 Summit x250e-24t and 2 x450a-24t integrated with our Avaya telephone system. I am trying to upload the current configuration file to a tftp server for backup. I get this error message: Network is Unreachable.

I have tried these commands with the same results for all:
tftp put xx.xx.xx.xx primary.cfg
tftp xx.xx.xx.xx –p –l primary.cfg
upload configuration xx.xx.xx.xx primary.cfg

I can ping the tftp server from the switch and visa-verse

Any ideas would be appreciated - Jennifer

Here's the commad I used on my x150
upload configuration <IP of TFTP> <name of switch> vr "VR-Default"

It uploaded successfully, when I used

upload configuration <IP of TFTP> <name of switch>

it failed with the same error. I think you need to tell it to use the VR (virtual router) in the command so the switch knows to use the default gateway of the device.

hope this helps.
John

That worked! Thank you so much. Now I have to read up on the VR stuff. I'm learning as I go here. Too bad I have to do that manually for all my switches.

If you purchase EPICenter (Extreme's Manager) you can schedule it. We use it, it's pretty good, it also has the ability to do some management on Avaya's VoIP devices. Try out a demo, I believe you'll need to contact support for a trial licence.

I have downloaded the trial version. I don't have a price, but it is probably too expense for government. It would have to be pretty benefitial for me to justify it. I'll see how it is. Thanks for the advice - Jennifer

Try Kiwi cat tools they have a application that allows you to scheudule TFTP uploads switch or router changes. The price is around $500.

might be good for you, I'm looking into it.
