Four hours chatting with HP techs didn't help. The folks here have always helped.
Works 6.0 froze up on me. When I attempted to delete and reinstall from the disk I get this (lengthy) error message:
MSWorksexe-entry point not found
The procedure entry point ?WZcopyTrunc@MWblstrings@@SAPAGPBGHPAGZ could not be located in the dynamic library WKWBL.DLL
Once I close that message I get a window from MicrosoftWorks saying: Works cannot access one or more required files. The files may have been renamed, deleted, or moved. Try reinstalling and then starting the program again.
I have deleted Works from everywhere & the registries and still can not reinstall it. I get this error message at start up now without having to open the Works . When I go to the PC help and Tools, Application Recovery section I only get part of the window and am unable to continue with the process.
I am using XP Media Center Edition 2005.
Thanks in advance for any help you might have.

Q: Is there a utility, similar to eraser2k.exe for Office 2000, that removes all remnants of Works?

The cleanup utility (above) may be on your installation disk.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Thanks Linney!!
I am printing out these articles and will see what happens!
I will let you know. I will be away for the weekend so won't have time to work on the solutions but I am anxious to get this done. (I need the word processing capability desperately as my father passed away last weekend and we need to complete many letters, etc. I hope I'm not out of line on this board for adding this personal information.)
As usual you guys come through for me!!

Deepest sympathies on your recent loss.

It is too early to say anything about "coming through for you", you try one thing, if it works, great, if it doesn't you look for the next thing to try.

Linney:
The first link you sent solved the problem! It took about 10 minutes.
You have my heartiest thanks. Once I used the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility I was able to reinstall and open Works.
This site and these forums RocK!!!
