I keep getting error messages when trying to connect my W2K Livelink server to my Oracle DB on W2K server. This is the message I'm receiving... E661979139 No SQL Channel has been established. The required database drivers are not available.

TIA,

C.

Suyetoc,

Have you confirmed that the DB is available from that server - try using the TNSPING utility ?

Have you installed the Oracle client on the Livelink server ?

Can you connect to that DB from the server using SQL Plus or other similiar tools ?

Do you have anything in the Connect and Thread logs - set to VERBOSE and level 11 - that may assist ?

Have you contacted your local OpenText support team about this ?

Suyetoc,

Which version of Oracle Client are you using. I had issues with 9i Client. 8i clients were fine.

Did the tnsping work OK?

Check the registry for ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_HOME_NAME.
If you have multiple HOMES, Livelink client should use HOME0

Check the NT services Livelink & Oracle owned by same Domain account.

Check tnsnames.ora & sqlnet.ora are correct.

Check NT environment settings.

Check NT Path settings. (put Oracle path first in the list)

Lastly, comment out the database connection details in opentext.ini as following:

[general]
#dftConnection=livelink

#[dbconnection:livelink]
#encodeduserpwd=xxxxx
#username=livelink
#servname=treacle
#servtype=ORACLE

Stop/Start Livelink

Go to
You should now be presented with the Database administration page and selecting an existing Livelink Database.

Hope this help, Mark.

Another thought, check sqlnet.ora file for following parameter.

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)

Regards, Mark.
