When I start up SSMS, I get the following error:

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express
---------------------------
The automatically saved settings file '\\Settings\CurrentSettings-2008-04-10.vssettings' cannot be found. You can change this file on the 'Import and Export Settings' Tools Options page. The IDE will use your most recent settings for this session.

I can find no way to manipulate this file or re-create it. Any suggestions as to how to solve this? It causes SQL Server 2005 Express a long time to open and close.

CruiseMan,

I would try going to Tools, then Options, as it suggests, and look for anything that may be referencing some settings, etc. If you can't figure it out there, worst case scenario is you could just uninstall/reinstall. It shouldn't take that long. Do you have the latest Service Pack/updates applied?
